Dear Fellow Cyclists,
The Las Vegas Valley Bicycle Club will be hosting an open house at the monthly membership meeting in the Wengert Meeting Room at the rear of the NV Energy building at 6226 West Sahara on June 7th beginning at 7:00 PM.
*Guest Speaker *
Mike Janssen, Assistant City Traffic Engineer, City of Las Vegas
Topic: “City of Las Vegas On-Street Bike Lanes"
From a major metropolitan city with less than 30 miles of bicycle lanes in 2006 with a dramatic increase to 200 miles by the end of 2013, Mike will discuss how the City of Las Vegas has expanded the on-street bike lane network from just less than 30 miles in 2006 to over 120 miles today. He will also discuss some of the new corridors that will get bike lanes added in the next 12-18 months which will expand the current network to nearly 200 miles by the end of 2013.
As part of the presentation, our speaker would like to get some input on any corridors not currently planned for bike lanes that the bicycling community would like to be included. Also discussed will be some other bike lane enhancements that are currently being tested (such as Green Colored Bike Lanes).
We invite all cyclists to attend. This is the time that we can help our city planners and make Las Vegas more cycling friendly community. It will help our local economy as well as make Las Vegas, "The Entertainment Capitol of the World", become a great cycling destination with all we have to offer outside the casino corridors.
Regards,
James C. "Jim" Little
President
